Is coding difficult for children?
It is hard when the first lesson is syntax. It is approachable when the first lesson is a game or story with a mentor. Difficulty tracks teaching style more than age.
Parent answer guide
Children can begin programming concepts around ages 7–8 through visual tools such as Scratch. Around ages 10–12, many students can move into typed languages such as Python, depending on typing comfort and interest. Live mentor-led projects work better than passive videos at every age.
